The theme for our February Wine Down Wednesday is “A Mon Valentin” or “To My Valentine”
Happy Valentine’s Day wine lovers. Every Wednesday in February we will be featuring three quaffable French wines from the Loire and Rhone regions. Why French? Well, traditionally the French celebrate Valentine’s Day with much enthusiasm. There are many festivals and the first Valentine’s Day cards are said to have originated in France!
The wines that we will be featuring are the kinds of wine you would be drinking if you were visiting a Paris cafe. So, bring your Valentine with you any Wednesday in February and pretend you’re in a “Brasserie” in Paris!
Chateau Moncontour, Vouvray, Loire Valley
This is a Chenin Blanc from the Vouvray appellation of the Loire Valley. It is a demi-sec style wine. This wine has a wonderful balance of acidity and sweetness with hints of green apples, pears and lemony citrus, with a long finish.
Domaine du Grand Bouqueteau, Chinon, Loire Valley
This is a Cabernet Franc, appellation Chinon. This red wine is often serves in Paris cafes. It has a powerful nose of coffee, with nuances of red fruits and hints of spice. This medium bodied wine has a long finish with soft tannins.
Moillard “Les Violettes” Rouge, Cote du RhoneThis wine is a beautiful blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Cinsault from the southern Rhone region. It is a lively wine with fresh black berry fruit flavors, a hint of spice and just the right amount of tannins.
Try a glass for $7 or a flight for $10

The talented bar staff at Food 101 have created a brand new Fall inspired cocktail list that is sure to get everyone in an “Autumn” mood and make preparing for the holidays just slightly easier!! Want something a little different … a “LADY LOLA” might be what you’re looking for … a combination of Absolut Berri Acai, St. Germain, Pomegranate Juice and a splash of Champagne. And for all the manly men out there that want to order martinis, but think it’s too girly … “THE METROPOLITAN” is what you need … Maker’s Mark, Cranberry Juice and a dash of Pomegranate Juice.
Where better to enjoy one of these than in our spirited bar? You can get out of the chilly air and sip on a delicious cocktail. Stop by today and be sure to ask your server or bartender about the wonderful new hand crafted, freshly made cocktails!!
